Barbara Robison McGinty, better known as Mammy, was born on August 15, 1940 to Amos Robison and Doma Sanders Robison in the small community of Stanley and went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 12, 2016 at her home in Pleasant Hill. Mammy, as she was known to all, received her BA, Masters and plus 30 in education from NSU. She was an educator for over 50 years in various schools. She could teach every subject and every grade from elementary thru high school and she was the ultimate teacher. She will be remembered for her quick wit, her talent of singing and playing the piano, her love of teaching students, her domestic talents, her love of reading and working crossword puzzles, her love of her kids and grandkids and great-grandkids, but most of all, the love she had for the Lord. She demonstrated that through years of teaching Sunday school, Bible Study, VBS, leading music, and leading others to Christ. We know she is walking the streets of gold with our Lord and with her parents; son, Scott; grandson, Pudge; sister, Alice; and her mother- in-law-Bernice. There will never be another Mammy. Those left to keep her memory alive are her husband, Billy; daughters, Mary Salter, and Martha and James Urda; grandsons and wives, Ben and Hannah McGinty, Cody and Madison Dodson, and Ethan and Savannah Urda; great-grandchildren, Ryder, Levi, Casey Paul, Maddyee and Adalynn on the way; brothers, wives and their families, Robert and Carol Robison, W.A. and Brenda Robison, Donnie and Jaye Robison, and Larry and Suzi Robison; brother-in-law, Lucky Taylor and family; sister-in-law, Linda Foster and family; and many more nieces, nephews, cousins, former students and friends. Pallbearers were Ben McGinty, Cody Dodson, Ethan Urda, Doyle Stockton, Hugh Hardee, James “Buster” Mary, Tommy Patrick, and Kip Terrell. Honorary pallbearer was Harold Dillard. The family request memorials to be made to First Baptist Church, Pleasant Hill or the Evan “Pudge” Urda Scholarship fund at Capital One or donor’s choice. See ya later, Mammy… We love you.
