Funeral services honoring the life of Loy M. “Pappy” Free, Sr., 87, were held April 1 at Spring Ridge Baptist Church in Pleasant Hill with the Reverends Marshall Ingle, Hoye Leach, Danny Forsythe and Logan Brock officiating. Burial followed at Spring Ridge Cemetery. Pappy was born June 12, 1928 in Pleasant Hill to Frank and Lurline Blankenship Free and passed away March 27, 2016 in Shreveport. He proudly served his country in the United States ARMY. Preceding Pappy in death were his parents; sisters, Sadie Gates and Anice Free; brothers, Bill, Alton, James, Tim, and Franklin Free and a great grandson Landon Parks. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 65 years, Etoyce Free; son, Loy “Buddy” Free Jr. and wife, Connie; daughters, Debora Langston and husband, Tommy, and Jackie Parks and husband, Kenny; through birth or marriage 13 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. The family would like to include as adopted in love to the family Dr. Robert Hernandez, Heather, Mason, Josh Harrell and family. Honoring the life of Pappy as pallbearers were his grandsons, Chris Friday, Andy Friday, Jody Free, Joseph Free, Justin Free, Kevin Parks, Josh Harrell, and Randy Merle Crawford.
