Marie Powell

Funeral services for Marie Powell will be held Thursday, January 21 at 10 a.m. in the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville, with the Rev. John Lewing officiating. Burial will be at the Florien Cemetery in Florien, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 20, 2016, 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and on Thursday from 8 a.m. until service time in the chapel. Marie was the daughter of Luther and Mary Lou Coleman Foster. She was born in Morton, Mississippi on October 3, 1927 and passed away January 16, 2016 in Pitkin. Marie retired from Bayne Jones Army Community Hospital after 25 years of work in nursing. She enjoyed hunting and fishing and anything outdoors and truly loved raising her chickens. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Powell; son, LeRoy “June  Bug” Nugent Jr., and wife, Debra; daughters, Pat Seay, and Jan and husband, Mike Perkins; son-in-law, Thomas Horton, Jr.; grandchildren, Cindy Dickey and Amanda Nugent and great grandchild, Kylar Hale. She is survived by sons, Robert and wife, Linda Nugent of Elysian Fields, Texas and Rickey and wife, Tami Nugent of Midland, Michigan; daughters, Frances Alfursan of Pitkin and Rhonda Horton and Austin Brown of Hornbeck; 23 grandchildren; 54 great grandchildren and 8 greatgreat grandchildren. Words of comfort may be expressed to the Powell Family at www.labbymemorial.com
