Funeral services for Norman J. Green of Florien were held on December 12 at Union Baptist Church in Florien. Bro. John Thompson officiated. Interment followed in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Norman was born on March 12, 1936 in DeRidder. He went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 6, 2015 while in the Critical Care Unit at St. Francis Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria after his heart proved to no longer be strong enough to sustain life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hershel and Annie Green of DeRidder; daughter, Rhôna-Regina Green; brother in-law, Gerald Moses and nephew Tim Moses. He is survived by his sister, Barbara Moses of DeRidder; daughters Sheri Yates of Leonard, Texas, Jessica Green of Natchitoches and Lanetta Green of Lake Charles; son, Reginald Green of Many; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two great-nieces and two great nephews. Honoring him as pallbearers were Reginald Green, Chad Winchester, Shannon Moses, Rory Boyette, Tim Weldon, and Noah Barnhill. Ralph Matthews served as honorary pallbearer. Per the request of the family any extra potted plants received for Mr. Green will be given to the residents of the local nursing homes of Sabine Parish, as they know Mr. Green never missed an opportunity to bless someone else if he could.
