Funeral services for Jerry Nelson “Jabo” Cole, 80, 0f Many were held Aug. 17 at Rockett- Nettles Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dee Boyet officiating and Pastor Dan West assisting. Interment followed Zion Cemetery. Mr. Cole was born Oct. 27, 1934 in Coushatta and passed away Aug. 14, 2015. Jerry was a retired Navy veteran that served his country from 1953 to 1983. He was a devout Christian, and he was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. He had a very big and gracious heart. Jerry and his wife, Faye, were in charge of their church’s food pantry in Florien. This gave him great joy to do good for his beloved community. There wasn’t anything he loved more than his family. He was an avid fisherman and bird watcher. Jerry loved to laugh and make others smile. He loved football, and the Dallas Cowboys were his favorite. Nothing made him happier than telling you why the Cowboys were better than your team, and they would “whoop” your team’s fanny. Jerry said many wise things in his life, but two of his favorites were “Well, ‘itn’t’ that special,” and “I know everything in the whole wide world.” These are two things he would often joke about with all of his loved ones. Jerry was a very special and loving man, and he left a positive mark on the hearts of anyone he ever met. He was a light to his family and friends, and there will ever be anyone like Jerry Cole again. He left this world a better place because he was in it, and anyone that knew him was blessed. He is preceded in death by his parents; eight siblings; wives, Margie McQuiston and Bonnie Cole and sons, Glenn Cole and Ricky Cole. Mr. Cole is survived by his wife, Faye Cole of Many; daughters, Cheryll McCormick of Shreveport and Brenda Cole of Many; sister, Frances Worley of Reidhiemer; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a number of other relatives and friends.
