Funeral services were celebrated for Mary E. “Effie” Silas Delcambre, 94, April 13 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Burial followed in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.Mary was born in Noble on May 21, 1920 to the late Prude Escavera and Martha Paddie Escavera and passed away Thursday, April 9, 2015at her residence with her family at her side. Mary was a member of the Choctaw-Apache Tribe of Ebarb. She owned and operated Delcambres Texaco and Delcambres Café in New Iberia in years past. She was a memberof the Rebekah’s having held all offices in the organization, and loved sewing and socializing with family and friends. Mary adored her family and cherished the time spent with them. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her children, Daniel Silas and wife, Anne, Dr. David
Silas and wife, Sandy, Johnnie Silas and wife, Alesia, Effie Silas and Dorothy Angela Delcambre Boney and husband, Jeff; 27 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, and 26 great-great grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Loretta M. Babin; granddaughters, Tina Y. Buford and Vickie M. Basden; grandson, Scottie Boney; great grandson, Joshua J. Babin and great granddaughter, Heather Silas. Pallbearers were Justin Delcambre, Kevin Silas, John Martinez, Joshua Basden, Tim Silas and DanielSilas, III. Honorary pallbearers were
