A service to honor the life of Mr. Thurman Coolidge Durr was held on March 20 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home with the Bros. David Free and Ray Dyess officiating. Burial followed at Beulah Cemetery. Mr. Durr, 10 days shy of being 91 years of age, passed away Monday, March 16, 2015 at his residence with his family by his side. He was born in Marthaville to Kelly Franklin Durr and Cora Adams Durr on March 26, 1924. He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. He worked as an engineer surveyor and resided in Morenci, Ariz. for more than 30 years. Upon retirement, he and his wife decided to return home and have lived in the Marthaville area for 32 years. He was an active member of Marthaville Baptist Church and will be missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Lillie Walker Durr; sons, Dennis C. Durr and wife, Linda, of Clifton, Ariz. and Randall A. Durr of Robeline; daughters, Wonna Flo Hays and husband, David, of Maricopa, Ariz. and Shelley Renay Kerr and husband, Scott, of Mesa, Ariz.; brother Herman Prentiss Durr of Marthaville and sister, Mable Durr Smith of San Diego, Calif. He was blessed with seven grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ernest Durr and Hilyard Durr and a sister, Ollie Mae Haskins. Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Stanley Walker, Jerry Durr, Casey Durr, Perry Thigpen, Jason Hays and Kyle Hays. Honorary pallbearers were Adrian Thompson, Stephen Durr and Billy Weeks.
