Eula Mae McDaniel died Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, at Denton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Denton, Texas, surrounded by loving children, grandchildren, & great-grandchildren. She was born July 4, 1920, in Many, to Robert E. Lee “Jack” Muse and Eula Dees. Her siblings, who preceded her in death, were Ruby Lea Sprouse, James Robert “Shorty” Muse, and Archie J. Muse. Her daughter, Joyce Ann McDaniel Salter and granddaughter Nicole Wright also preceded her in death. Eula Mae, who was crowned the first-ever Miss Sabine Parish in 1937, worked for many years in downtown Many at Horn’s Drug and Many Drug. She enjoyed the daily interaction with the parish locals, and greeted her customers with a smile. She later became a federal employee and retired from Fort Polk in 1987. She is survived by daughter, Kay Wright of Denton, Texas and son Benny B. Miller of Cary, N.C. Surviving grandchildren are Tara Wright Avena, Tori Wright Gordon, Walker Wright, Alexandra Wright, Greg Faust, Brandt Faust, & Kristen Delano. Her legacy includes 14 great-grandchildren who visited their Grandma Chudy regularly. Funeral services were held Jan. 24, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
