A Celebration of Life for Martha Estelle Cox, 72, of Gulfport, Miss., was held on Dec. 03 at 10 a.m. at Warren Meadows
Funeral Home Chapel in Many with the Rev. Clinton Alford officiating. Burial followed in the Beckom Cemetery in Hornbeck. Martha Estelle Cox was born on Sunday, Nov. 15, 1942 in Louisiana. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, Nov. 28, 2014 at Garden Park Hospital in Gulfport, Miss. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Mattie Walker Byrd; husband, Nevel “Les” Cox; son-in-law, James Smith; great granddaughter, Faith Mareigh; sister, Myrna Jane Byrd and brother, Jesse Byrd. She is survived by her daughters, Dawn Coleman and husband, John, of Gulfport, Miss. and Dainna Smith of Georgia.; sisters, Della McLendon of Florien and Nelia Byrd O’Haver of Florien; brothers, Richard Byrd of Vidor, Texas and Teddy Byrd of Many; two special companions, Honey Bun and Cutie Pie; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dewayne Nicosha, Gale and Robert Moore, Shawn Griffing and Marissa.
