The Village of Florien will come alive with the sights, sounds, and flavors of history and hometown celebration during the 45th Annual Sabine Freestate Festival, happening October 31–November 2, 2025. This free, family-friendly event promises a full weekend of live entertainment, local culture, contests, and community fun.
Festivities kick off Friday, October 31 with Veteran’s Breakfast and Education Day beginning at 8 a.m., followed by a Veteran’s Program at 9 a.m. Entertainment throughout the day includes multiple performances by Dan-Dan the Farmer Man Comedy Show, Trunk-or-Treat, and a Monster Mash Dance Party. The evening will also feature BBQ Cook-Off check-in, the first Shootout Clue Challenge, and Bingo at the Florien High School gym.
On Saturday, November 1, the day begins bright and early with the 4th Annual Ben D. Peterson Memorial Trail Ride, Midkiff 5K Gold Run, and another performance from Dan-Dan the Farmer Man. The always-anticipated Festival Parade rolls out at 11 a.m., immediately followed by the Queen’s Announcement and more Shootout and Clue competitions.
Festival-goers can enjoy a full lineup of entertainment, including performances by Barney Fife Fully Loaded, Studio B Dance Studio, and Lucas Jagneaux & The Roadshow, plus a Calf Dummy Roping and Mutton Bustin’ competition at the Freestate Stockyards. The evening closes with live music by Johnny Earthquake and the Moondogs.
Sunday, November 2, brings a community celebration featuring Gospel Singing at 10:30 a.m. and a Community Church Service at 11 a.m. The day continues with more Shootout and Treasure Hunt clues, the Big Buck Competition, and an outdoor Movie Night featuring The Last Rodeo.
Throughout the festival, visitors can browse arts and crafts vendors, enjoy food booths, and explore attractions such as an exotic petting zoo, laser tag, axe-throwing, historical demonstrations, chuckwagon cooking, and even worldtrained minnow racing.
The Sabine Freestate Festival celebrates the area’s rich heritage as part of the historic “Neutral Strip” region once known as the Sabine Free State. With free admission, local entertainment, and a welcoming community atmosphere, it’s an event that truly captures the spirit of Sabine Parish.
