The Sabine Parish Tourist Commission, in partnership with community, festival, and event representatives across the parish, is proud to announce the launch of a year-long series of events celebrating America’s 250th anniversary. Branded Celebrating America: 250 Years in the Making, this initiative will bring communities and visitors across Sabine Parish together to honor the nation’s history and spotlight local culture through historical reenactments, parades, concerts, and more.
The first event of this year-long celebration is “1776: Life on the Colonial Spanish Frontier” at Fort Jesup State Historic Site on October 11, 2025 starting at 9am. Visitors can expect an immersive living-history program with reenactors demonstrating colonial life, military routines, and period crafts from Spanish Louisiana at the beginning of the American Revolution, as well as learn how Spanish Louisiana was affected by the American Revolution, and what help Galvez offered to the Colonial Army.
Throughout 2025 and 2026, the Sabine Parish America 250 Committee, along with community sponsors, will host a variety of signature events. These include a July 4th Celebration with fireworks and a concert, parades, historical reenactments, a community time capsule project, and more! All events will be free or offered at minimal cost and are open to the public. All residents and visitors alike are invited to participate in this once-in-a-lifetime celebration.
