Another fresh face joined the ranks of young candidates ready to serve the Town of Many this week. Jamey McIntyre announced on Monday, Jan. 20, that she will run for Alderman at Large. She is a longtime Many resident who has worked in the Sabine Parish District Attorney’s office several years and built strong relationships throughout the community. Her formal announcement follows: “My name is Jamey McIntyre, and I am announcing my candidacy for Town of Many Alderman at Large. It is time for ‘leadership that works for everyone.’ Your voice is important! I care about you, your concerns, our community, and especially our youth. If it is an issue to you, then it is an issue to me. When you talk, I will listen. It will not be the other way around.
“The Town of Many has a lot of potential! We are strong, but we can be better. If elected, I will work hand in hand with established community leaders, the Chamber of Commerce, economic development, and other stakeholders to help build a hometown our young do not want to leave and where older residents settle and stay.
“A big thank you to all who live and do business here, and to those who have invested for years in this great community. I promise to encourage all citizens to support and invest in our hometown.
“With fresh ideas and a new vision, we can make the most of what we have now and build toward a bright future. I am not a politician, but simply an everyday person who loves to help everyone. My friends and acquaintances describe me as easy-going, strong, fair-minded, educated, hardworking, trustworthy, respectful, and reliable.
“I recognize the value of strong leadership, and I don’t quit. In leadership, I will consider the needs of everyone impacted and strive to meet those needs in a way that is best for all.
“I have lived in Many all my adult life, almost 20 years. For the past five years, I have worked in the Sabine Parish District Attorney’s office. After graduating North DeSoto High in 2006, I earned a degree in Human Resources and Hospitality Management, then went on to earn three technical college certifications in Business Office Technology, General Office and Computer Applications concentration; Office Assistant Specialist; and Business Office Technology - General Clerk.
“Nothing in life has ever been handed to me. I believe in hard work and a strong work ethic. As a proud mom to a beautiful, successful 16-yearold at Many High School, I worked my way up from McDonalds, Burger King, and Southern Classic, to manage Many’s Subway prior to my current position. Along the way, I also worked at three retail locations. You can rest assured I do not leave any stone unturned when it comes to taking care of my responsibilities and those in my care.
“My priorities are Many’s youth, helping law enforcement ensure safety and security for citizens, strong support for street and infrastructure improvement, assisting the elderly with food drives, fan drives and other services, and helping the Town provide a variety of events and activities for all citizens, not just a small segment.
“First and foremost in my life is Jesus Christ. This is not a political statement. It is simply who I am, and the one I strive to follow. I am nothing without Him.
“If you want an Alderman at Large who is enthusiastic, committed, young, ready to listen and go to work for everyone, I humbly ask for your support and vote. If you place your trust in me, I promise you my heart and my best!”
Jamey also announced she has organized a campaign team, which is steadily growing, and she shared plans for multiple upcoming events. During her campaign, she looks forward to meeting everyone, listening to residents’ concerns, hopes and dreams, and developing her plan of action to fully support the issues that Many residents feel are most important.
