The town of Many is pleased to announce that Larry Alford has been named the grand marshal for this year’s Christmas Parade.

Mr. Alford graduated from MHS in 1965 and has 1 son Trey and 2 daughters Jessica and Josie. He has worked for Alford Shell Service, Alford Oil Co., Alford Wrecker Service, Alford Ambulance Service, and has owned and operated Alford Store Ft. Jessup, Alford Wrecker Service, and Alford Detail Shop in Many.

Mr. Alford served in the Army from 1967 to 1975. He was in the 1st Infantry Division – 1st Cavalry Division; went to Drill Instructor School at Fort Polk and operated as Advanced Recon Units.

He spent 34 years in the oil and gas business and worked for several different companies in 14 different countries as Chief Mechanic.

He is a member and supports the VFW, American Legion, ABATE, CMAS, PGR and is also a member of Siloam Baptist Church.

Mr. Alford has received an award from the Daughters of the American Revolution for his community service and a certificate of Congressional Commendation from Speaker of the House Mike Johnson.

He is Ride Captain of Patriot Guard Riders; they do military visitations, funerals, memorials, escorts, display U.S. flags and supports all first responders.

He maintains several flag poles and flags in and around Many and has a disposal box for old and worn flags at Alford Detail Shop where he disposes of the flags in an honorable fashion.

Mr. Alford has a private bank account for helping local vets in need. He uses this account for helping homeless vets, food and water, electric bills and water bills. He also works closely with Pam Russell with the V.A. office in Many.

He says none of this would be possible without the support of our local community.
