Sheriff Aaron Mitchell announces two longtime Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office employees have retired.
Lieutenant Walter “Tootsie Roll “ Meshell Jr and Assistant Warden Sheryl Hembree retired on June 30, 2024.
Meshell started working in 1996 under then Sheriff Guffey Lynn Pattison as a Patrolman. In 2016, Meshell assumed the roll of Lieutenant over the Patrol Division. In 2020, Meshell became the Lieutenant over the School Resource Officer Division.
Hembree started working for the Sheriff’s Office in 2012 as a Correctional Officer at the Sabine Parish Women’s Jail. Hembree was appointed Assistant Warden in 2020 where she was in charge of the daily operations of the Women’s Jail.
A reception in their honor was held Friday, June 28th at the Sabine Parish Courthouse.
Sheriff Mitchell and Chief Deputy Brad Walker congratulate Meshell and Hembree on their retirements and thank them for their many years of dedication and commitment to the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office.
