Funeral services for the Rev. Douglas Hilton, 60, of Hornbeck, were held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 16 in the Hornbeck High School gymnasium with the Rev. Lloyd Carroll and the Rev. Wilkie Richmond officiating. Burial followed in the Gum Springs Cemetery under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville. Visitation was held Sunday, June 15 from 4-10 p.m at Gum Springs Baptist Church, and on Monday, June 16 from 9 a.m. until service time in the Hornbeck High School gymnasium. Douglas, the son of Roy and Juanita Ellis Hilton, was born on Oct. 10, 1953 in Leesville. He passed into his eternal home on Thursday, June 12, in Leesville. Doug was a 1971 graduate of Hornbeck High School, and a member of the Sons of Confederacy. He had been employed by Valley Electric Company for over 40 years. He was the pastor of Gum Springs Baptist Church from 1978 until 2011. Doug was an example of a true Christian. Even through his illness, he was an inspiration and encouragement to many people. He has fought the good fight. He has finished his course. He has kept the faith. He has finished well. Doug is survived by his wife Brenda Hilton of Hornbeck; his children, Jason and Jeanette Hilton and Amy and Michael Lightsey, all of Hornbeck; one brother, Nick and Rita Hilton; one Sister, Vickey and Harry Stevenson; his mother, Juanita Hilton; and one brother-in-law, Steven and Shonda Dowden, all of Hornbeck. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Joseph Douglas Hilton, Gavin Michael Lightsey, Justin Noah lightsey, Ryleigh Samantha Hilton, and one on the way.
