Charles Roland “Chuck” Weeks was born on Oct. 19, 1979, and entered eternal rest on May 22, 2014. He was raised in the village of Calvin, located in Winn Parish. Since 2011, he resided in Jena, Louisiana, where he was employed by the law firm of Wilson and Wilson. He earned his Juris Doctorate from Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. While attending NSU, he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and the Catholic Student
Organization. His formative education was received from Calvin High School, where he raduated in 1997. Chuck received many honors throughout his high school career which included all-state basketball and all-state baseball awards. He had the honor and privilege of serving on two Louisiana high school leadership executive councils during his senior year: treasurer of the Louisiana Association of the National FFA organization and District III vice president of the Louisiana Chapter of Future Business Leaders of America. Before attending law school, he was employed by Sabine Parish School Board as an athletic director, which included serving as the head basketball coach for boys and girls, and head track coach at Ebarb High School. He was employed by the Winn Parish School Board where he taught Louisiana History, American History, coached football, boys’ basketball, and softball at Winnfield Middle School, along with being the social studies club sponsor. He formed special bonds with faculty, staff, and students during his tenureat these educational institutions. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church of Winnfield. He enjoyed serving his community as a Dixie Youth umpire duringhis high school and college days. Additionally, Chuck gave to the
youth inthe community by umpiring during the summer while employed as a teacher. His hobbies included playing basketball, baseball, hunting, and fishing, buthis true passion was golf. He spent almost every available moment
on thegolf course competing with his fellow golf buddies. Chuck was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Sadie and Berneice Weeks of Calvin; maternal grandparents, Jake and Janie Procell ofEbarb; and extended grandfather, Denvor H. “Benny” Martin of Calvin. Uncles who preceded him included Charles Roland Weeks, Bill Johnston, both of
Calvin, and Gerald Fredrick Procell of Ebarb. Chuck is survived by his parents, Vernon and Vickie Weeks of Calvin; one sister, Christin Weeks Page and husband, Victor Lee Page of Winnfield; nephew, Daniel Luke Page, and nieces, Elizabeth Jane and Catherine Ann Page. He is also survived by his extended grandmother, Minnie Martin, as well as aunts and uncles: Rebecca Procell; Merle Ferrant and husband Wayne; Edgar Procell and wife Karla; Donna Martinez
and husband Mark; and Maxine Pharr and husband, William. Also left to cherish his memory are first cousins: Scott Procell, Norman Procell, Mark Ferrant, Cindy Lewing, Angela Nettles, Stephen Martinez, Laura Thompson, Markay Tyler,
J.J. Martinez, Vicki McManus, Cheryl Miller, and Melissa Tilton. Chuck was also blessed to have had many close friends
during his lifetime. The family appreciates your continued support and prayers, as they cherish the memories of their son and brother, Chuck. Pallbearers were Kevin Bacle, Chase Bartlett, Kyle Carter, Trai Ford, Justin Keiffer, Brandon
Knotts, Adam Mercer, Victor Page and Chad Smith. Honorary pallbearers were The Brothers of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, John Robert Crain, Cole Garrett, Chase Hemperly, Kyle Horn, Micah Hubbard, David Lee Huckaby, Matthew Kelley, Justin Mills, Sam Nelson, Michael Pickett, Matthew Shelton and Jamie Taylor. A funeral mass was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2014 in the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception with Fathers John O’Brien, Christian Ogbona and Thomas Paul officiating. Interment followed in the Bethlehem Cemetery near Calvin (Hwy. 1232) under the direction on Southern Funeral Home. Friends visited with the family in the Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield on Friday, May 23 from 5-9 p.m.. A rosary was held at 4:30 and a tribute of remembrance was held at 8:30 p.m..
