EUNICE--It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of our loved one, Roger D. Jennings on Monday, May 19, 2014 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette. He was 66-years-old. A Celebration of Life was celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014 at North Eunice Baptist Church. Pastor Travis Turner officiated. On Sunday, May 25, 2014 at 4 p.m. a Celebration of Life was held at Jennings Chapel Church in Marthaville with Pastor Travis Turner officiating. Burial followed in the Bethany Cemetery. A proud veteran, Roger served as a lance-corporal in the United States Marines. He attended Westminster Bible College in Texas and was a graduate of Northwestern State University. He was a member of the North Eunice Baptist Church, where he was a Baptist Deacon for over 15 years, as well as a song director at the former Calvary Baptist Church in Eunice. He was employed with Conoco, Vintage Petroleum and Hilcorp at the Tepetate field. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved God, his family, church and friends. Roger will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, brother, and friend. Left to cherish his memory is his loving and devoted wife of 31 years, Mary Jennings of Eunice. Roger was also extremely loving and proud of his five daughters and three sons-in-law, Anna Raye Jennings and husband, Nathan Wilson of Houston, TX., Ellen Renee Jennings of Lafayette, Olivia Danae Taylor and husband, Caleb Lynn of Branch, Amy Grace Turner and fiancé, Cody Brock Richard of Rayne and Elizabeth Marie Fuselier Jennings of Eunice: his future grandson, Malachi Lynn Taylor. He is also survived by his two sisters, Mozell J. Liddle of Greenwood and Ivadell J. Fenton and husband, the Rev. Ed Fenton of Marthaville; his mother-in-law, Mickey Veuleman of Pleasant Hill; his sisters-in-law, Mar Jo Jennings and husband, Dan Daube of The Woodlands and Thelma Veuleman of Pleasant Hill; brother-in-law, Jim Veuleman and wife, Sheila of Pleasant Hill; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Lou Annie Downs Jennings; brothers, Hulon D. and Shirral D. Jennings; sister, Marline J. Ragsdale; brothers-in-law, Rev. John Ragsdale and Rev. Vernon Liddle; niece, Rhonda Jo Jennings and a nephew, Richard C. Jennings. At the request of the family, visitation was held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Friday, May 23 from 5-8:30 p.m. and again on Saturday, May 24 from 8 a.m. until time of services. On Sunday, May 25 a visitation was held at Jennings Chapel Church, 368 Louisiana 1221, Marthaville from 3 p.m. until time of services.
