Ann Garland Welch, 84, passed away on May 16, 2014, after living a rich and blessed life defined by faith, family and friends. She was born on Jan. 5, 1930, in Shreveport and was the daughter of the late John D. Garland, Sr. and Georgialee Morris Garland. At the time of her death, Ann was a resident of Many. She was an active member of the Toledo Bend Church of Christ, the Toledo Bend Lake Association and the Toledo Bend Wildflower Club. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Thomas H. Welch, Sr.; her daughter, Melanie Ann Collins of Fort Worth, Texas; her son, Thomas H. Welch, Jr. and wife, Sally Welch of Austin, Texas; her son-in-law, Stanley Eugene Smithey; six grandchildren:
Heather Michelle McGee and husband, Mac, Allision Renae Stevens and husband, Courtney, Ashley Denise Grammer
and husband, Stephen, Ryan Thomas Smithey and wife, Priscilla, Georgialee Lucile Welch and Lillian Mays Welch;
ten great-grandchildren; and brother, John D. Garland, Jr. of Haughton, Louisiana. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m., Monday, May 19, at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, Haughton. Memorial service was held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 20, at the Toledo Bend Church of Christ, 30361 Hwy 191, Many, LA, with graveside devotional at 3 p.m., Tuesday, May 20, at Haughton Cemetery, Haughton, LA. Services were officiated by minister James Tidwell and grandson, Ryan Smithey.
