After incredible response after starting a travel business several years ago, Nan Arthur of Arthurized Adventures is preparing her most ambitious foray yet.
The July trip will last for seven days and include visits to the Ark Encounter and Amazing Creation Museum, along with a riverboat sightseeing trip and the Cincinnati Museum Center.
The Ark Encounter features a full-size version of Noah’s Ark, which is said to be built to the exact specifications of the Bible, making the massive structure span 510 feet long, 85 feet wide, and 51 feet high. With three decks, each provides a different perspective on the events it covers, including the preflood world, plausible living quarters for Noah and family, and post-flood events. It also includes a special Museum of the Bible exhibit.
The day after, attendees will visit The Creation Museum. The state-ofthe- art, 75,000-squarefoot facility takes one through Biblical history using stunning exhibits, botanical gardens, a planetarium, zoo, and much more. One of the biggest features is its newest exhibit, which places the New Testament into context by exploring Israel during the time of Jesus.
The Cincinnati Museum Center is on the itinerary for the next day, and is a multi-museum complex in Cincinnati, Ohio. Its many buildings include a history museum, museum of natural history and science, and OMNIMAX theater. Included in the price of admission is a show at the theater. Afterward comes the sightseeing tour on a riverboat. Before going home, there will be a stop at Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum in Nashville, Tenn.
The price of $835 also includes six nights of lodging including four consecutive nights in the Cincinnati area, 10 meals, and cost of transportation.
Arthur first became interested in the travel business after a beach vacation. Not long after, in December of that year, she filled her first bus with people on the first excursion.
“I had requests for travel before the idea was even in place for the first trip after parents saw what fun my 4-H kids and I had on our little jaunts,” she said. “Of course, it wouldn’t have been ethical for me to proceed in that way. After my retirement it became much more feasible.”
One of those first trips saw 15 passengers load up in a van for two days of activity.
“There’s lots of logistics and planning involved, but each trip has been worth every second of hard work,” she said. “The trips always turn out like a group of friends enjoying a few good meals and an excellent time. We want to create an experience that sticks with my clients for a long while.”
Feedback on her trips has also been overwhelmingly positive.
“A lot of the trips are about who you’re with,” Arthur said. “We can’t say who else is going on the trip, so it’s a surprise when we all get together. Each person has commented about how much fun they had and are even interested in taking the same trip again, in many cases.”
However, more variety is coming to Arthurized Adventures, and bigger and better trips are in the works.
In September, a trip to the legendary Biltmore Estate, touted as America’s largest home, is planned. October will bring about the Hocus Pocus tour of New England. December will bring about another ambitious tour in New York that will feature the Rockettes, Times Square, and locations from the beloved Christmas movie “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
“We want these to be lasting experiences that those in attendance see as highlights of their lives,” she said of the excursions.
