Friday, November 25, 2022 marked the 100thBirthday Celebration of Mackie Conely Johnson which was held at the Hilton Garden Inn, Shreveport, Louisiana.

The theme of the night was “A Legacy of Love”. Many were in attendance to celebrate Mrs. Johnson’s commitment to her faith, her family, and her community. Dressed in an elegant red suit, and full of energy and excitement, Mrs. Johnson exhibited the fact that “youth is not a time of life, but a state of mind”. She had a front row seat, as family members and close friends shared fond memories and hardy laughs during the evening.

Several musical numbers were played which provided opportunities for her guest to celebrate with her.

The musical finale was “You Are Our Mom” to the tune of “We Are The World”, which was sung by her children and grandchildren.

Not to be outdone, Mrs. Johnson addressed the room generously giving her 100 years of wisdom. Her spirit and enthusiasm continues to inspire those who come in contact with her.

Mrs. Johnson has always been very optimistic about reaching the century mark because of her family’s longevity.

Mrs. Johnson has demonstrated countless ways of dedication to others. She has served on various boards such as, The Taylor House for Battered Women, The Prison Ministry, The Convalescent Home ministry and many others. She has earned the respect and affection of people from all walks of life and of all ages.

Currently, Ms. Johnson is the mother of her church, The New Ebenezer Baptist Ministry, with Rev. Robert Johnson as pastor. She has spent many years as the church clerk, president of the missionary society, and is an active member of the Eastern Star.

Her Motto: “If I can help someone, as I pass this way, then my living will not be in vain!”

The event was organized by her three daughters, Ruthie Jackson of Humble, Texas, Annie Smith of Shreveport, Louisiana and Tina Armstead of Plano, Texas, as well as her four sons, Leroy Johnson of Humble, Texas, James Johnson of San Francisco, California, and Robert and Otis Johnson of Florien, Louisiana.
