The election results for the December 10 have been released.
The only local issue on the ballots was that of town councilman for Zwolle, which saw Harry Babers (D) received 147 votes, or 62 percent in favor over “Randy” Sepulvado, who received 89 votes for 38 percent of the total. Unofficial turnout was 22.4 percent.
Statewide, CA 1 that required U.S. citizenship in order to register and vote in Louisiana passed with 73 percent voting in favor of, which represented 314,678 votes overall. Those voting against constituted 113,807 votes, or 27 percent again. Locally, unofficial turnout was 12.2 percent with 1,490 votes for (83 percent) to 314 against (17 percent.
CA 2, which requires senate confirmation of gubernatorial appointed members of the State Civil Service Comm. was passed with 300,635 votes for, or 71 percent. Votes against numbered 123,250 or 29 percent against. Locally there were 1,338 votes for (75 percent) and 448 against, or 25 percent. Unofficial turnout was 12.1 percent locally.
CA 3 over requiring senate confirmation of certain members of the State Police Comm. also passed with 305,007 (72 percent) to 118,538 against (28 percent). In Sabine, there were 1,341 votes for (75 percent) to 447 votes against (25 percent) with 12.1 percent turning out according to the unofficial turnout statistics.
