The Many Bass Club’s August Tournament of 2022 took place on the weekend of August 9 on Toledo Bend. The weather was extremely hot with temperatures pushing 100 degrees. We had high bright skies on Saturday with moderate winds. The water temperatures were in the upper 80’s. The fishing was very tough with only two limits of five fish weighed in by the ten-angler field. Both of those limits were caught during the day on Saturday in relatively shallow water from two to ten feet deep. Several anglers fished Friday night with little success although the largest fish of the tournament was caught Friday night.
James Edwards won the tournament with five fish that weighed 11.39 pounds. James fished Saturday and caught his fish in the mid-lake area fishing in two to four feet of water on the bank with a spinnerbait. Glen Swihart placed second with a five fish limit that weighed 11.11pounds. Glen caught his fish around grass on soft plastics in five to ten feet on the south end of the Toledo Bend. The thirdplace angler was Johnny Flowers who caught four fish that weighed 8.20 pounds. Johnny caught his fish on the mid-lake area on Saturday on soft plastics and crankbaits.
Skip Carlisle caught a 3.89-pound fish for the Big Fish of the tournament which he caught Saturday night on the south end of Toledo Bend. Gary West continues to lead the Club’s Top Six contest with 83.6 points. Glen Swihart made a big move to second place in the points race with 78.08 points. Mike Woods is in third place with 66.67 points. George Herr is in fourth place with 65.16 points, followed by James Edwards with 58.35 points, and Johnny Flowers 58.25 points.
Congratulations to the August winners.
