Funeral services for Melva Horton, 88, of Many were held on Friday, July 2, 2021 at Lewing Chapel with Rev. Bronson Richardson and Rev. Joe Hendrickson officiating. Burial followed in the Florien Cemetery.
Melva Horton was born on Thursday, February 9, 1933 in Florien. She passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at Many Health Care North in Many.
She was preceded in death by her husband, LaWayne Horton; parents, Amos and Mae (Lewing) Knippers; sisters, Mary Harper and Ruth West; brothers, EC Knippers; Doug Knippers; Imon Knippers; and Norman Knippers.
She is survived by her daughters, Jan Peace of Smithville, Tennessee; Jill Horton of Many; grandchildren, Zack Peace and wife Lanie of Many; Kelly Peace and wife Michaela of Tupelo, Mississippi; Josh Moricca of Lufkin, Texas; Jaci Moricca of Nacogdoches, Texas; great grandchildren, Keaton Oxley; Kash Oxley; Caroline Peace and Nolen Peace; special friend, Mary Jane Larpenteur; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers were Zack Peace, Kelly Peace, Russell Peace, Josh Moricca, Keaton Oxley, Kash Oxley, Greg Simpson, Randy Skidmore, Bruce Henderickson, and Rick McConnell.
Honorary Pallbearers were Roland Arthur, Travis Bennett, Bryan Hendrickson, Nolen Peace, Boyd Peace and Stephen West.
