Gerryl Bourgeois, 86, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2021 in Many surrounded by her loved ones. She was born January 1, 1935 in LaPlace, Louisiana to Walter and Regina (Laiche) Edler, she was one of six children. A visitation for her was held at Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Many Chapel on Saturday, March 6, 2021 with a graveside service to follow at St. John Catholic Church Cemetery in Many.
She married Donald J. Bourgeois of New Orleans on October 13, 1956 and remained married 53 years until his passing in December 2009. In November of 1960, the couple moved to Terrytown, Louisiana where they raised their family and owned a bicycle shop, The Pedal Shop, in Gretna, Louisiana until they retired to beautiful Toledo Bend Lake in 2001.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Edler; her husband of 53 years, Donald J. Bourgeois; her parents-in-law, Ferdinand and May Bourgeois; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris E. and Gerald Roussell; Zola E. and E. J. Martin; and brother, Walter (Sonny) Edler, Jr. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Donny Bourgeois and wife, Sandy of Lake Charles, Lousiana; her daughter, Danette B. Miller and husband, Homer of Many; her brother, Brent Edler of Tucson, Arizona; her sister, Debbie E. Vintarella of LaPlace, Louisiana. In addition, she leaves behind her grandchildren, Austin; Landon; and Baleigh Bourgeois of Lake Charles, Louisiana; Justin Davis and Kristin D. Brown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Dustin Miller (Shara) of Leesville; Dallis Miller (Victoria) of Haughton, Louisiana; and Heather Royer (Darren) of Dequincy, Louisiana. Her great grandchildren left to mourn her passing are Kohner, Kaleb, Karter and Kooper Brown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Dylan Miller of Zachary, Louisiana; Rustyn, Drew, and Daisy May Miller of Leesville; Wyatt and Rose Miller of Haughton, Louisiana; and Mason, Kendal, Winston, and Canyon Royer of DeQuincy, Louisiana. She also has numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends she leaves behind.
Honoring her as pallbearers were Dylan Miller, Austin Bourgeois, Greg Lacaze, Rustyn Miller, Landon Bourgeois, and Justin Davis. Honorary pallbearers were Dustin Miller, Dallis Miller, Darren Royer, Johnny Milioto, Mason Royer, Kendal Royer, and Winston Royer.
