Margie “Sally” Gray, 91, of DeQuincy, passed into the arms of her Savior on Friday, March 22, 2019 at her residence surrounded by her loved ones. She was born to her late parents, Douglas and Hessie Hoosier, on April 28, 1927 in DeQuincy.

She loved being outdoors, working in her garden, and fishing. Sally and her husband Charlie lived at Toledo Bend for about 20 years. They owned their own business “Charlie Gray Trucking” for about 20 years as well. She said she was President, mechanic, bookkeeper, and would do whatever needed to be done. When they retired, they had about 30 trucks on the road. Sally was a Grand Officer for the Eastern Star, and held about every position with them.

She is survived by her son, Larry Maddox and wife Jeanette of DeQuincy; daughter, Brenda Whitman and husband Michael of De-Quincy; step-son, Charles Gray of DeQuincy; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren.

Sally was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Charlie Gray; son, Kennon Maddox; her parents; brothers, W.D. Hoosier and Eddie Ray Hoosier, Sr.; sister, Maggie Irwin; and a great grandson, DJ Maddox.

Services were held at First Baptist Church of DeQuincy on March 25 with the Rev. Gil Arthur officiating. Burial followed at Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder.

Services have been entrusted to Hixson-Snider Funeral Home of DeQuincy.
