William Ronald Whittington was born in Florien on December 19, 1938. He passed away peacefully on March 2, 2019 at the NWLA Veterans Home in Bossier City at 80 years of age. He was a former resident of Houston, Texas. His parents were Gordon Elwyn and Marie Hardin Whittington of Florien.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by his twin brother, George Donald Whittington, June 19, 2018.
Ronald went to Elementary school in Florien. He was a graduate of South Park High School in Beaumont, Texas and a graduate of Lamar Tech University in Beaumont, Texas. He earned his BBA degree in Accounting in 1971 from Lamar State College of Technology, and was employed at Halliburton in Houston, Texas for many years.
He is survived by his son, Jim Whittington and wife, Roberta of Medford, Oregon; granddaughters, Phoebe and Clio Whittington of Medford, Oregon; step-daughter, Shay Dodson of Bonner Springs, Kansas; step-son, Jay Peoples of Denver, Colorado; sister-in-law, Betty Whittington of Shreveport; nephew, John Whittington of Shreveport; niece, Jane Mayfield and husband Steve of Bossier City, and a host of other relatives and friends.
A graveside service was held on March 6 at Prospect Methodist Church Cemetery in Florien with Dr. Roy Cook from Natchitoches officiating.
The family wishes to express appreciation to the doctors, nurses and all the staff, especially Wing 4, at the NWLA Veterans Home for their loving care over the recent years. Memorials may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association, act.alz.org or the Charity of the donor’s choice.
