A funeral service celebrating the life of Huey Robert Rushing, 80, was February 3 at Rose-Neath Chapel in Many with Mister Kerry Henry of Carthage Church of Christ officiating. Interment followed with a private service at the Rushing Family Cemetery.

Bob was born on March 25, 1938 in Coffee County, Alabama to Thomas McDavid Rushing and Lacey Lee Black Rushing. He passed away January 30, 2019 at his home.

He served in the military for 22 years and served in Greenland, France, Germany, as well as numerous posts in the United States. He served two tours in Vietnam, where he was awarded two bronze stars. He retired in 1976 and moved his family to the Toledo Bend area in Louisiana to enjoy his joy of bass fishing and country life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen Louise Wismer Rushing; sisters, Mildred, Ruby, Nillie, and Orene; and brothers, Glady, Leonard, and Burl.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons Huey Robert Rushing, Jr. of Many, Fredrick Alan Rushing and wife, Fang, of Allen, Texas, Philip McDavid Rushing of Many, and Richard Scott Rushing, and wife, Amy, of Florien; sisters, Corene and Betty Sue; brother, Lawrence; grandchildren, Tara, Demi, Devin, Clayton, Cody, and Evan; and great-grandchildren, Joci, Joslyn, and Dani.

Honoring Bob as pallbearers were Tommy Hall, Dustin Babb, Josh Stewart, Eric Maddocks, Clayton Rushing, and Cody Rushing.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were Evan Rushing, John Maddocks, Chuck Bardin, and Robert Parrie.
