Funeral services honoring the life of Derrell Cassell, 78, were held December 19 at Henrietta Congregational Methodist Church in Converse with the Reverends Chucky Clark and Logan Brock officiating. Burial followed at Union Springs Cemetery in Converse. He was born on July 6, 1939 to Randolph and Marie Pritchard Cassell and entered into rest on December 17, 2017. He was a loving father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. Derrell retired from the Sabine Parish School Board and also retired from the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Department. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Cassell; parents; and brother, Joe Cassell. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his son, Derrell R. Cassell II and wife, Darlene, of Converse; sister, Deborah West and husband, Danny, of Greenville, Mississippi; grandchildren, Cecily Morvan and husband, Jerrin, and Blake Savell and wife, Hannah; great grandchildren, Zoey Procell, Gavin Lawhorne, and Weston Savell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Honoring him as pallbearers were Ronny Richardson, Daniel Campbell, Noonie Hicks, Noel Hicks, Randy Cassell, Terrell Snelling, Bill Ryan, and Johnathan West. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Old Camp Hunting Club Members, Jerry Snelling, Guffey Pattison, Bernard Bossier, Jack Staton and John Brock.
