Funeral services for Jacquelyn Funderburk Oxley, 84, of Many will be held November 16 at 2 p.m. at Warren Meadows Funeral Home in Many with burial following at Fort Jessup Cemetery. Visitation will be held November 15 beginning at 5 p.m. Bro. Wayne Chance will be officiating. She was born December 10, 1932 and passed away Saturday, November 11, 2017. Jackie grew up in the town of Many, graduating from Many High School in 1951. She went on to attend Northwestern State, and graduated with a degree in Education, in 1960. She was a teacher for 32 years, teaching a variety of grades. She had a passion for education and loved each student that entered her classroom. In her later years, her great-grandchildren became her passion. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with all six of them. The oldest, Lexi Deloach, is a freshman at BYU-Idaho; Kody Deloach, a junior at Natchitoches Central; Sienna Henderson, a fourth grader at Natchitoches Magnet; Savannah Mitchell, a third grader at Many Elementary; Jackson Henderson, a first grader at Natchitoches Magnet; and Maci Haigh, a Pre-K student at Many Elementary. She was thrilled to welcome the newest great grandson in March 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harland “Bob” Oxley; parents, C.B. and Eunice Funderburk; daughter, Karen Haigh; grandson, Jason Carl Haigh; and sister, Mona Jane Funderburk. Left to cherish her memory are her son-in-law, Dan C. Haigh, and wife, Kathryn, of Many; granddaughter, Kristi Henderson, and husband, Troy, of Natchitoches; grandsons, Joshua Haigh, and wife, Shelly, of Many and Mike Haigh, of Alexandria; brothers, Larry Funderburk, and wife, Shirley, of Zwolle and Jeryl Funderburk, and wife, Suzy, of Iola, Texas; close friends from high school, Gail Baggett and Jo Hubley; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Pallbearers will be Kody Deloach, Ryan Woodle, Jess McFerrin, Dan Haigh, Troy Henderson, and Joshua Haigh. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Haigh and Jonas McFerrin. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Special Education Center of Alexandria. Special thanks to Hospice of Natchitoches, Janet Miller, and Eric and Martha Hagelin for the care provided during her last years.
