Funeral Services for Judy Keene, 74, of Bonham, Texas were held August 15 at First United Methodist Church in Bonham, Texas under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Dr. Tommy Brumett officiated with the assistance of the Reverends Mark Fortney and Dana Coker. Burial followed at Willow Wild Cemetery. Judy passed away from ALS Lou Gehrig’s Disease Wednesday night, August 10, 2016 surrounded by loved ones. Judy was born in Pineville on March 31, 1942, the daughter of Howard Edward Small and Rena Mae Funderburk. She was a 1960s graduate of Lufkin High School. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Stephen F. Austin University and later went on to teach at Port Lavaca, Edna, and Bells ISD. Judy married David Keene on January 30, 1964 in Lufkin, Texas. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bonham, where she was a member of the Builders Class. Judy was on the Board of Directors for numerous Women’s Organizations in Fannin County and Bonham, including the Republican Women’s Club. She was in the Port Lavaca Pilot Club and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma service organization. Judy was awarded Citizen of the Year in 2014 by the Bonham Area Chamber. She enjoyed keeping up with the duties of owning a beloved farm such as being in her garden, growing flowers and loved mowing. Judy adored her family and loved her church. She is preceded in death by her parents. Judy is survived by husband, David Keene of Bonham, Texas; son, John Keene and wife, Colleen of Plano, Texas; brother-in-law, Dr. Roger Keene and wife, Dr. Gladys Keene of Laredo, Texas; sister, Fran Norris and husband, Richard of Conroe, Texas; grandchildren, Kyle Keene and Keegan Keene, both of Plano, Texas; nephew, Mark Keene; extended family and a host of friends.
