Maxine Horner was born in Greenwood, Mississippi on July 9, 1926 and was the daughter of the late Frank and Grace Thomason Hill. In 1944 she was united in marriage to Howard Horner, who preceded his wife in death September 3, 1986. Mrs. Horner was the owner and operator of Horner’s Florist for 25 years. She also had worked for Brown Shoe in Selmer, Dyer, and Savannah. Mrs. Horner was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Savannah, Tennessee. She loved talking to friends and family and was a very devoted mother, grannie, and ma. Mrs. Horner departed this life on June 2, 2016 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 89 years, 10 months and 24 days. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Francis Taylor and brother, James Alfred Hill. She is survived by her two sons, Frank Horner and his wife, Mary, of Memphis, Tennessee and David Horner and his wife, Becky, of Many; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren and sister, Catherine Goodman of Booneville, Mississippi. Services were held June 6, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah, Tennessee, with Helen Hamilton and Adam Coleman officiating. Burial followed in the Memory Gardens at Savannah, Tennessee.
