Marguerite W. Wright was born on Monday, October 17, 1921 in Negreet. She was the youngest of eight children born to Walker Maston Wright of Butler, Alabama and Mary M. Sibley of Negreet. At age 94 and one half years she went to be with our Lord on April 24, 2016. Funeral services were held on April 27, 2016 at First Baptist Church with the Reverends Gene Wright, Jonathan Bost and Bill Rose officiating. Music was provided by Patsy McCormick. Doug Patrick, Warren Founds, Charles Mains, Malvin Ogden, Tommy Lane and Shelton Roark served as pallbearers. Marguerite lived a life of service to her church, First Baptist Church of Many, and to her community. She led a close-knit, faithful bible study group for years; when her beloved church turned 100 years old she chaired the Centennial Committee to celebrate that milestone. Her community activities included Daughters of the American Revolution, President of the Pilot Club, Board for the Council on Aging, Chairperson of Sabine Parish American Red Cross, and the sole female serving on the Many Community Development Board. Marguerite rode a horse to elementary school, played basketball, attended Normal College, now Northwestern State University, and owned and operated a local women’s store for many years. Marguerite was a true Steel Magnolia. She never met a stranger and made herself available to anyone in need. All were greeted with a warm smile and an engaging conversation. During her years as a widow, she served as an informal social leader for a special group of friends. These women enjoyed many hours of companionship, including meals, serious conversation and laughter. Aunt Rite enjoyed spending time with the numerous nieces and nephews she adored. She loved her siblings and treasured their years together. Her pride and joy were her children. She is survived by son, Tommy Wright and wife, Connie, of Houston, Texas and daughter, Connie Ammons and husband Robert of Many and most recently Memphis, Tennessee. She made dozens of teacakes and waffles for and bestowed thousands of hugs and kisses on grandchildren, Max and Monte Ammons and Catherine and Ellie Wright; and great grandchildren, Adam and Abbey Ammons and Caroline, Mary Claire and Beau Ammons. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Melvin Wright, who died in late 1990 shortly after celebrating their golden anniversary together. The family wishes to gracefully thank the caring nurses & staff of Sabine Retirement and Rehabilitation Center, her special caregivers, the late Audrey Woods Felton and Teresa Hudson. We are also most grateful for the special care of physician Dr. Jack Corley. Condolences may be made to the family online at www.warrenmeadows.com  .Donations in Marguerite’s memory can be made to support the good works of First Baptist Church, P.O.
