Ann Gernon Abel died peacefully at the age of 85 on November 7, 2015 surrounded by her family. Ann was born October 25, 2015 in New Orleans, the daughter of Edward James Gernon, Sr. and Mary Emma Harvey Gernon. Ann thoroughly enjoyed gardening, fishing, and being by the water. She raised her four children, Patricia, Tommy, Gary, and Vickie in Metairie where she was a member of Our Lady of Divine Providence Catholic Church and the principal of the Catechism program. She then moved to Many, where she resided for 25 years and worked at Toledo Town Tackle. In 2002, Ann moved back to the Northshore to be closer to her family. She was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Covington and a resident of Rouquette Lodge in Mandeville. Ann is survived by her son, Gary Abel and daughter Vicki Abel Torres and husband, Lawrence Torres Jr.; eight grandchildren, Dr. Sheri Wright Flatt and husband, Dr. John Flatt, Courtney Torres Zeller and husband James Zeller, Rebecca Wright Wright, Julie Torres, Christopher Torres and wife, Megan Torres, Missy Abel Ralls, Gina Abel and Brian Abel; six great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Brinley, Jackson, Aven, Morgan and Madeleine; siblings, Kathleen Gernon Catalanotto, Edward James Gernon, Jr., and Clarke Joseph Gernon, Sr., and a number of other relatives and close friends. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Lynn Abel; son, Thomas Gernon Abel; sister Olive Gernon Soulant and her beloved pet, Angel.
