Funeral services honoring the life of Rosie Syble Booker Lum Smith, 96, were held Aug. 2 at Rose-Neath Chapel in Mansfield with the Reverends Alton Middleton and David Permenter officiating. Burial followed at Union Springs Cemetery in Converse. Syble was born Dec. 31, 1918 to Tiny Ethel Magness Booker and Willis Jason Booker who resided in the Oak Grave and Hunter community of DeSoto Parish. She passed away July 29, 2015 in Mansfield. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Houston, J.F., Edgar and Boone Booker; sisters, Willie B. Booker Coleman and Evelyn Booker Hensley; husbands, Willard A. Lum and Elzy Smith; son Charles Alwyn Lum; grandson Jason Edward Lum and son-in-law, Kelly Leon Campbell. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her sisters, Mary Louise Booker Rascoe and Alpha Omega Booker Myers; brother, James Julian Booker and wife, Sadie; daughter, Jo Nell Lum Campbell; sons, Alvin Glynn Lum and wife, Barbara and Donnie Lum and wife, Billie; grandchildren, Carlton Campbell, Daniel Campbell, Jason Campbell, Anita Raybon, Andy Lum, Freida Lum and Angie Lum; great grandchildren, Karley Mitchell, Dylan Raybon, Jared Lum, Braxton Hughes, Dalton Lum, Jordan Lum, Emily Campbell, Payton Campbell, Kristen Campbell, Dylan Campbell, Kaitlyn Campbell, Sarah Campbell, Erin Campbell and Cassie Campbell and great-great grandchildren, Mason and Bentley Mitchell, Riley, Paisley and Jase Hughes. Those honoring Syble as pallbearers were Carlton Campbell, Daniel Campbell, Jason Campbell, Andy Lum, Jared Lum, Dylan Campbell, Dylan Raybon and Braxton Hughes. Honorary pallbearers were Garrett Taylor, Dalton Lum and Gayle Golden.
