In Anacoco, Glen Firesheets, 91, passed from this life at his residence surrounded by his family on Sunday, May 17, 2015. Services were held May 20, at the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverends Rob-byn Hunt and Dave Stewart offi-ciating. Burial followed in Holly Grove Cemetery in Anacoco. Glen was born in Fisher on April 22, 1924 to William Wal-lace Firesheets and Mamie Eliza-beth Teasley Firesheets. In 1943, Glen graduated from Deweyville high School in Deweyville, Tex-as. Later that year he began his service with the United States Army where he proudly served in World War II and the Korean conflict. Before retiring in 1965 as MSG (E8) Glen was award the European African Middle Eastern campaign medal with 3 Bronze Service stars, World War II Victory Medal, National Defense Service Medal, 2 Good Conduct medals and the Kore-an Service Medal with 6 Bronze Service Stars. With the military, Glen traveled throughout the United States, Africa, Italy, Ger-many and Korea. After retiring, he became a second career at Fort Knox, Kentucky with the U.S. Civil Service. In 1980, he moved to Anacoco to care for his aging parents. Glen was a member of Hol-ly Grove Methodist Church in Anacoco. A quiet, private man, he loved spending time with his family, telling jokes, reading, cutting grass and fishing. Glen is survived by his wife, Thelma Lucille “Lucy” Erick-son Firesheets; daughter, Carla Moore and husband, Ronald; granddaughter, Colette Moore of Anacoco; brothers, Wil-liam “WT” Firesheets and wife, Ruth of Baton Rouge and Bob Firesheets and wife, Barbara of Zwolle; sister, Lynell Doan of Panama City, Florida; sister-in-law, Evelyn Firesheets of Florien and a host of nieces and neph-ews. Glen was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Hazel L. Firesheets and brothers, Ben and Jim Firesheets.
