Mr. Ferd A. Greer, age 93 of Almo, Ky. formerly of Many, died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015 in Almo, Ky. Born Thursday, March 17, 1921 in Avery County, N.C., he was a retired painter for General Motors having worked for more than 30 years. He was a member of Ledbetter Baptist Church, as well as, Calvary Baptist Church in Many. He was a Veteran having served honorably during the years of 1941-1944 in World War II. Mr. Greer is survived by his brother, Donald Rachel of Almo, Ky.; sister, Gladys Biver and her husband, Donald, of Many; very special friend, Edna Barnett of Dexter, Ky. and several nieces and nephews. A special thanks to the VA Clinic in Mayfield and to his very special workers, Lynn Bushor, Donna Hedrick, Kerri Hayden and Michelle Clay. He was preceded in death by brothers, Oliver Rachel and Herbert Rachel; sisters, Pauline Bates, Murrel Rachel and Deloris Rachel; grandparents, Bill and Ada Greer. His parents were the late Roy and Vernie Greer Rachel. raveside Services were held on Feb. 28, at Brooks Chapel Cemetery in Dexter, Ky. with the Rev. Joe Pat Winchester officiatin Burial fol-lowed in Brooks Chapel Cemetery.Collier Funeral Home in Benton, Ky. handled arrangements.
