Sister Mable Genell Conley Sweet, daughter of the late Deacon Mack Kinley Conley and Annie B. Williams Conley was born on June 13, 1929 in Florien.  Sister Sweet accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Ebeneezer Baptist Church in Florien. She was a member of the Sabine High School graduating class of 1947. After graduation, she was employed for  two years at LSU Hospital in Shreveport, as an x-ray technician. On Oct. 29, 1950 she married A.B. Sweet and they moved back to Many, where nine children were born to this union. After retuning home, Sister Sweet started working at Duggan’s Flower Shop with her sister, Ruby Palmer and they worked there for 30 years. After leaving the flower shop business, Sister Sweet became employed at Heritage Manor #2 Nursing  Home where she worked for ten years until her retirement. Sister Sweet loved peopleand did everything within her  power to help them in any way she could. She loved the Lord and sought to please Him. Sister Sweet was a selfmotivated Christian and a willing worker, which is evident by her many associations. She served as President of the Women’s Mission Board, President of the 12th District Association Woman’s Department, Sunday school teacher, volunteer at the Taylor House, Child Care provider, Member of Christian Community Care, Louisiana Trial Lawyers Association, Louisiana Foundation for Law and Society, and she was the Associate Conductress for the Star of the East #48. When Sister Sweet was unable to attend church on a regular basis, she opened her home for the Mission to have their weekly meetings in her home, and on the third and fourth Sunday of every month, the Adult Woman’s Sunday School Class would meet with her in her home for Sunday school. Beloved family members that preceeder her in death are her parents, Mack Kinley Conley and Annie B. Williams Conley and her grandson, William Pierce. Sister Sweet leaves to cherish her memories her loving husbands, U.J. Sweet; sisters, Mackie B. Johnson of Florien, Emma L. Wilson of Grambling, Ruby  J. Palmer of Many and Bernice Black of Shreveport; brother, Mack L. Conley and wife, Shirley, of Florien; daughters, Gloria S. Kelly of Chester, Penn., Alice S. Medlock of Dallas, Texas, Terry Sweet, Anna S. Scott, Barbara S. Charles and husband, Thurman, and Pallie S. Price and husband, Hillie, all of Many; sons, Frank Sweet of Dallas, Texas, Earl Sweet and wife, Myrtis of Chester, Penn. and Carl Sweet of Many; 25 grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren; 16; great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
