Funeral services for Dovie Hext Curtis were held on Tuesday, Dec. 2 at Pleasant View Baptist Church in Hornbeck with the Reverends John Lewing II and Kenneth Baggs officiating. Burial followed in the Prewitt’s Chapel Cemetery, of Hornbeck under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. Ms. Dovie was born in  Leesville to the Rev. Joe and Dovie Hext and passed away on Nov. 30, 2014 at the age of 73. She was a custodian at Hornbeck High School until her retirement and was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church where she  served on many committees. She loved her family and especially her grandkids. She enjoyed playing Bunco and video games like Pac-man and Tetris, listening to country music, drinking coffee, and telling stories. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Curtis; parents, the Rev. Joe and Dovie Hext; brother, W.D. Smith; sisters, Evon Lee, Dorothy Browning, Audrey Bourque, Thelma Semons and Linda Faye Hext. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie and husband, Barry Formby, of Anacoco; son, Billy Wayne and wife, Patricia Curtis, of Many; brother, Joe and wife, Edwina Hex, of Houston, Texas; sisters, Aubrey West, of Deweyville, Texas, Faxon Lee “Sissy” Ross, of Singer, Dona and husband, Ed Dowden, of Hornbeck and Deloris and husband, Bill Rogers, of Hornbeck; grandchildren, Joseph “Joe” Formby, Matthew Formby, Lindsay Curtis,  Billy “Bo” Curtis, Lilah Curtis, Mikey Eilers, Richard Eilers, Brandi Eilers, Lacey and husband, Matthew Lambert, Jennifer and husband, Micheal Furlough and Steven and wife, Linda Eilers; great grandchildren, Meghan Barnard, Evan Eilers, Ian Eilers, Kyle Johnson, Allison Johnson, Maddie Furlough, Amie Johnson and Avery Lambert and a host of nieces and nephews Pallbearers were Johnny  Lewing, Jacob Lewing, Mikey Eilers, Joe Formby, Billy “Bo” Curtis and Matthew Formby.
