A resident of the Toledo Bend area, Maggi Pousson was 90 years of age at the time of her death on Aug. 11, 2014 at Possum Hollow, her home of 33 years. Prior to retiring in Toledo Bend, the Poussons spent many years residing in Baton Rouge. She had a peaceful passing at her home, surrounded by her husband, Edwin Pousson, and her caretaker
son, Mike Pousson. Maggi was born on Nov. 13, 1923, in Egan. This beloved wife, mother and friend to many began
her life in southern Louisiana, born to parents George and Beulah Truax, the third of their 10 children. Fortunate to meet the perfect partner for her life, she was married to Edwin John Pousson on Dec. 12, 1942. They have shared their lives for over 70 years of wedded bliss. In their commitment to family, they became amazing parents to nine children,  generous grandparents to 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. Always active, she was a club member to a variety of organizations who benefited from her ability to make order out of any situation. She was a certified china-painting teacher, former President of LOPAC, the Louisiana Porcelain Art and Teachers  Association and co-founder of the Louisiana School for Porcelain Artists. A devout Catholic, her faith was able to give her the strength she required to live her long life with such endurance and dignity. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Edwin J. Pousson; children Marguarette E. Pousson, Michael Pousson, Elizabeth Stepp and husband, Beryl, Robert Pousson and wife, Judith, Philip Pousson and wife, Debra, Andre Pousson and wife, Camille, Nancy Pousson and husband, Mark; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; sisters, Ethel Johnson, Marie  Smith, Dorothy Hewlett; brother Rodney Truax. She was predeceased by children, Edwin John Pousson, Jr., Mary Lisa Pousson; and grandson, John Philip Pousson. A funeral mass was held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Many, on Aug. 16 at 10 a.m. Reception held afterward at the church. Mrs. Pousson was interred at St. John the Baptist cemetery in Many. Donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, American Heart Association, or American Cancer Society in her memory.
