Joe Jerry Dewil, 82, was born on August 10, 1943, and entered into rest on March 21, 2026. He was a lifelong resident of the Toro/Rattan community except for the two years he served his country in the United States Army. He spent over five decades of life in the logging industry, primarily as a truck driver. His most cherished role was that of Paw Paw.

Visitation will be held on March 26, 2026, from 10 a.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church (Toro community) with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Reverends Edgar Evans and Jason Keys will be officiating the service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Thelma Dewil; brother, Raymond Dewil; and sister, Jaquetta Dailey.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Jeannet Dewil; daughter, Jennie Cook (Bryan); son, Joe Dewil Jr.; grandchildren, Andrew Rains (Hannah), Kathryn Kingham (Cody), Ross Cook (Kim), Emily Sparks, Amos Sparks, Joseph Sparks, Benjamin Dewil (Brie), and William Dewil (Madison); 4 great grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren on the way; sisters, Loretta Law (Jerl) and Cricket Withers (David); sister- in-law Brenda Carte (Mike); and a host of nieces and nephews.

Honoring him as pallbearers will be Bruce Rains, Carney Chamberlain, John Dailey, Chuck Withers, Charlie Law, and Cody Kingham.
