After defeating Kentwood 17-14 at home on Friday, November 6 in the semi-final of the LHSAA state playoffs, Many will travel to the Mercedes Benz Super Dome in New Orleans this weekend where they will take on Ferriday at 3:30 p.m. on December 13.

This New Orleans visit marks the first once since the 2014 defeat of Kinder for the football program’s first state championship. Since the Tigers have had great success by reaching the semi-finals of the playoffs multiple years running, but have not matched the success of that year.

Kentwood received the ball to open the semi-final game after Many deferred after winning the coin toss. Roy Miller made sure that the first Kangaroo possession of the game came to nothing, after dropping the quarterback after a slip in the back field before being joined by Tackett Curtis for another big tackle to put Kentwood even further back behind in yards.

It has been a few exciting weeks for Many Tiger football, as they soundly made their way through two playoff games against East Feliciana and Pine, which they won 24-20 and 49-21, respectively. This Friday, they will meet Kentwood at home at John Curtis Stadium on December 6 at 7 p.m. Should they win, the team will make their way to the New Orleans Superdome on December 13 to play either Ferriday or Amite.

The game against Pine on November 28 saw the Tigers performing quite well. Despite Pine getting the first touchdown, Many came back quick and saw Terrence Williams punch in a touchdown from three yards out with 8:23 left in the first quarter, which tied the game 7-7.

It wasn’t until the second quarter that Many hit pay dirt again with Williams punching it in from oneyard out.

Back on their normal schedule of a Friday night game, the Loyola College Prep Flyers posed very little threat for the Many Tigers, as the 7-2 and class 3A Flyers were shut down 50-35 when the final whistle blew.

Many took to the field of John Curtis Stadium here in town and won the toss, allowing them to defer to the second half and allow their defense on the field first.

Loyola had some problems coming out of the gate, as their quarterback was off target for one pass that Jacolby Cade could’ve intercepted had he been a little more ready for it. Loyola would soon fumble the football, but despite the Tigers having a shot at the turnover, the Flyers got back on it. A little trickery in the form of a double reverse pass gave them an early lead 7-0.

The early season woes have been shed and Many were performing on all cylinders during their home game against the Avoyelles Mustangs on October 18 which they soundly won 35-14.

Although Many lost the coin toss, they got their preferred result, with the defense taking the field first. However, Avoyelles was fired up and put a quick eight points on the board after several quick plays.

Many tried to answer quickly, but a holding penalty brought a huge run for a touchdown by Shamarion Wiseman back. It wouldn’t be until the second quarter when Many would get their first touchdown, leaving Avoyelles ahead 8-7. Many would quickly score again, putting them up 14-8 with 7:42 left in the second quarter. By halftime, they would be up 21-8.
