Officiating the burial will be Brother David Martinez. Lois was born October 21,1935 in Sabine Parish to Arlie Mitchell and Magdalene(Craig) Mitchell and entered into rest on March 24, 2020 in Many.

Cary Cyril Moore

Cary Cyril Moore was born on December 8, 1927 in Mermentau, Louisiana to Guilliam Moore and Marie Cary-Moore. He went to be with the Lord on March 18, 2020.

Cary was preceded in death by his wife Marion Moore of 54 years, his parents and his brother Guilliam Moore Jr. Cary is survived by his children, Cathy Riggin of Ruston, Louisiana; Cary Mike Moore of Mountain Home, Arkansas; Linda Quebe of Splendora, Texas; Vickie Miguez and husband Phill of Katy, Texas; and Tracy Dugas and husband Alvin of Kentwood, Louisiana.

Cary was a loving grandfather to Chris Riggin, Ashley and husband Andrew Barringer, Laura Quebe, Josh and wife Elizabeth Quebe, Jamie and husband Cameron Huble, Robert and wife Amanda Migues, Mark and wife Rachel Migues, and Alexis and husband Jeff Shanks.

Cary’s great grandchildren are Landon Barringer, Hayden Huble, Hannah Huble, William Migues, and Louis Migues.

Graveside services for Matthew Porter, 90, of Many, were held on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at Fort Jesup Cemetery with Bro. Winston Hodge officiating.

Matthew Porter was born on Tuesday, January 7, 1930 in Plant City, Florida. He passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at VA Medical Center in Alexandria. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Hodge Porter; parents, Ivy Porter and Sarah (Grice) Porter; brother, James Porter; and sister, Frances Lewis. Mr. Porter served in the Army for twenty-three years. He was a Veteran of the Korean War. Receiving many medals through out his military career including the Purple Heart. Mr. Porter retired as a Sergeant First Class. He served many years as a Mason in the Masonic Lodge in Noble.

John Allen Martinez, Jr.

John Martinez, Jr. was born January 3, 1980 in Landstuhl, Germany. The child of an Air Force airman, his childhood was spent in Germany, New Mexico, California, Turkey, and Louisiana. He and his siblings, Kelly, Corina and Glenn, had many places they called home, but eventually settled in Zwolle. He earned a Certified Nurses’ Assistant degree and worked on other trades at Natchitoches Technical School. During his time in Natchitoches, he met Melanie Melancon, of Shreveport, and they married on April 13, 2001 in Zwolle. John Allen, as his family lovingly referred to him, and Melanie had four sons: twins, John Allen, III (Trey) and Caleb Michael, Noah Anthony, and Patrick Ryan Martinez.

Patricia Ann Wilson Thomas

Mrs. Patricia Ann Wilson Thomas, a prominent figure in service organizations and social, cultural and philanthropic activities in Natchitoches and across North Louisiana for more than 50 years, died the morning of Saturday, March 21, 2020, after an extended illness.

Admired for her elegance and graceful demeanor, Mrs. Thomas was widely known for her artistic skills and talents. She was an accomplished seamstress, musician, decorator and culinary artist. The designer dresses she created over the years were often exhibited at gatherings of social organizations and other groups.

She had also been actively involved since 1967 in publishing enterprises with her husband and business partner, Lovan B. Thomas. They own The Natchitoches Times and other newspapers and publications throughout the state.

Agnes Pauline Brown was born on Thursday, June 3, 1926 in Peason, Louisiana. She passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ephriam William Bridges and Mina (Chance) Bridges; husband, Olvin Brown; sister, (baby) Mary Bridges; brother, Lee Bridges; sister, Audrey Brown Potter; sonin-law, Malcolm Cole; brothers-in-law, Murrell Jacobs and Buddy Waller.

Memorial services were held for Mr. Dannon Luke Peterson, on Saturday, March 14, 2020 in Martin & Castille’s La Fleur de Lis Chapel in Lafayette. Dannon passed away Monday, March 9, 2020 in Houston, Texas.

Reverend Michael Delcambre, Pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Broussard conducted the funeral services. Assisting with the service was Brother Wilton “Tony” Anthony, Pastor of Siloam Baptist Church of Many.

Survivors include his sons, Major Jay Peterson and Gage Griffin Peterson and their mother, Kelly Griffin Peterson; parents, Mr. Billy Joe and Mrs. Barbara Peterson; sisters, Shaunda Peterson Johnson and her husband Trey; Tonya Peterson Borill and her husband Josh; nieces and nephews, Jake Johnson, Payton Johnson, Reese Cortez, Rhyan Borill and Hayes Borill.

Verna Leone

Funeral services for Verna Leone, 95, of Zwolle, were held on Friday, March 6, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Francis Kamau and Father John Paul Crispin officiating. Burial followed in the St. Joseph Cemetery.

Verna was a lifelong resident of Zwolle and passed away March 3, 2020 at Garden Park Nursing home in Shreveport. She was born February 23, 1925. Verna was one of fourteen children born to Sevado and Frances Leone. She was a life time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Zwolle. She was last employed at Garan Sewing Factory in Many.

Verna was preceded in death by her parents, Sevado and Frances Leone; sisters, Wanda Leone and Clara Sepulvado; brothers, Herman, Frank, J. W., Bill, John, Clyde and Oliver Leone.

Funeral services for Rebecca Stephenson, 77, of Many, were held on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at First Baptist Church of Zwolle with Rev. Jerry Penfield, Rev. Marty Williams and Rev. William Smith officiating. Burial followed in the Aimwell Cemetery.

Rebecca Ann Stephenson was born on Sunday, September 20, 1942. She passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at in Shreveport. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Vernon Stephenson; parents, Risdon and Elsa Wood; son, Christopher Stephenson; her daughter, Wendy Stephenson.

She is survived by her grandson, Michael Stephenson of Natchitoches; granddaughter, Stormie Derr of Interlachen, Florida; great granddaughter, Kira Derr of Interlachen, Florida; brothers, Risdon Wood of Brevard, North Carolina and William Wood of Monroe; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
