Cynthia Bourgeois Ward

Funeral services for Cynthia Ward, 68, of Many, will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Warren Meadows Funeral Home Chapel with Father David Wade DeCoste officiating. Burial followed in the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.

Cynthia Ward was born on Tuesday, March 31, 1953 in New Orleans. She passed away on Friday, May 21, 2021 at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center in Natchitoches.

Cynthia was a teacher for 32 years; she was a cheerleader sponsor at Port Sulphur High School and Boothville-Venice High School. She loved gardening, growing roses, fishing, hunting, and crafting. Cynthia loved her dogs and also watching her grandson at his athletic events.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Marcella Bourgeois; brother, Jerry Bourgeois; her father and mother-in-law, Lucian and Francis Ward; and brother-in-law, Jimmy Gene Ward.

Joseph Freddie Malmay

Funeral services celebrating the life of Mr. Joseph Freddie Malmay, 58 of Fort Worth, Texas (formerly of Zwolle, Louisiana) were held on Monday, May 24, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Zwolle, Louisiana, with Fr. Keith Garvin officiating; interment followed in the church cemetery. Freddie was born February 26, 1963 in Shreveport to Mattie Beatrice (Remedies) Sepulvado and Joseph Malmay and he entered into rest on May 18, 2021 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Freddie’s favorite sport and hobby was fishing. He would fish every chance that he had the opportunity. He was a man with a wonderful heart that would always help others and would live his life to the fullest. The smile he had was infectious and he was kind to everyone, and he enjoyed living his life! Faith was something that he had in tremendous amounts; no matter if life was good or bad, he NEVER lost his religion. He would go great links to find a Catholic Church.

Funeral services for Martha Foshee, 92, of Natchitoches, were held on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Warren Meadows Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in the St. Joseph Cemetery.

Martha C. Foshee was born on Saturday, January 19, 1929 in Zwolle. She passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2021 at Courtyard of Natchitoches in Natchitoches.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Self; grandsons, Gary Self and Steven Simpson; and her great-grandchildren , Justin Wyatt; Andrew Moore; Abigail Taylor; and Annalee Mitchell.

She is survived by her children, Linda Manning (Johnny); Doyle Steven Simpson; and Denise Tiffany; brother, Steve Martinez; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services for Jo Richards, 64, of Pleasant Hill, were held on Friday, May 14, 2021 at Hornbeck Full Gospel Church with Rev. Buddy Freeman officiating. Burial followed in the Middle Creek Cemetery in Florien.

Jo Ann Richards was born on Monday, March 11, 1957 in Zwolle. She passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2021 in Many. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oren Moss, Sr. and Dorothy (Brevelle) Moss; and her daughter, Melissa Byrd.

She is survived by her two sons, Rufus Joe Byrd, Jr. of Anacoco; and Harold Self of Pleasant Hill; daughter, Theresa McLain and husband Robert of Hornbeck; sisters, Alice LaGrange of Many; Carolyn Ross of Anacoco; and Janette Laurence of Many; brothers, Clifton Moss of Florien; and Larry Moss of Anacoco; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers: Rufus Byrd, Harold Self, Robert McLain, Bobby Goodman, Matthew Ferguson and Jimmy Bland.

Michael Davis, 56, of Hornbeck, passed from this life on Thursday, May 13, 2021.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of twelve years, Joyce Davis of Hornbeck; step-son, Larry Erwin of Hornbeck; son, Chandlor Townsend of Crossett, Arkansas; step-daughter, Angie Erwin of Hornbeck; daughter, Diana Crews and Jonathan of Bastrop, Louisiana; brother, Ted Strother and Johnnie of Conroe, Texas; sisters, Barbara Mann and Herb of Lake Charles; Susie Phillips and David of Slagle, Louisiana; Linda Erwin and Mike of Hineston, Louisiana; thirteen grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Davis, Jr. and Aline Brooks Davis; sisters, Betty Daniel; Marilyn Fercho.

A home going celebration for Max Teasley, Sr., 89, of Zwolle, will be held on Monday, May 17, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Zwolle with Rev. Jerry Penfield and Rev. Marty Wil1iams officiating. Burial followed in the Zwolle City Cemetery.

Max H. Teasley, Sr. was born on Tuesday, September 15, 1931 in Fisher. He passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at his home in Zwolle. Soon thereafter Jackie Teasley, his wife of 68 years welcomed h~m into Heaven. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Ehe and Helen (Self) Teasley; and his dear friend and son-in-law, James Napier.

Private family services will be held for Deacon Mike Sullivan, 59, of Many. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date.

Deacon Mike Sullivan was born on Friday, January 26, 1962 in Alexandria. He passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center in Natchitoches.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca Ann Sullivan; parents, Freddie Dwain Sullivan and Edith Elaine Cruse Sullivan; his father and mother-in-law, Dudley and Marguerite Abadie Labat.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Mary Labat Sullivan of Many; sons, Adam Michael Sullivan and wife Ashley Paige; John Eric Sullivan; granddaughter, Ava Catherine; sisters, Sherry Underwood and husband Cliff; Brenda Scull and husband Mike; Teresa Jester (Roy); brothersin-law, Gerard Labat and wife Nancy; Francis Labat and wife Ann; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers will be the nephews of the Sullivan and Labat family.

Funeral services honoring the life of Thomas James Sistrunk, 92, were held on Monday, May 10, 2021 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield. Officiating the service will be Rev. Charlotte Birdwell. Interment followed at Mitchell Cemetery, Mitchell, Louisiana.

Thomas was born on July 27, 1928 in Mitchell to Dewey Lee Sistrunk and Velda Davis Sistrunk. He entered into eternal rest on May 5, 2021 in Mitchell. Thomas was an avid hunter and cattle farmer. He loved his homeplace and family.

Preceding Thomas in death were his parents, Dewey and Velda Sistrunk; his wife of 69 years, Christine McFarland; his two infant sons; his brother, Malcolm Sistrunk; and his sister, Merline Cloteal Rutledge. Left behind to cherish his memory are his daughter, JoAnn Barker and husband David; along with a niece and numerous nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Bertie Byrd, 88, a native of Hornbeck and resident of Many. Born January 20, 1933. Maxine passed away on May 1, 2021 at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She graduated from Hornbeck High School and Business College in Baton Rouge. She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed quilting, sewing and spending time with her family.
