The Many Bass Club’s March Tournament was fished on March 9 and 10. The anglers could choose to fish either Saturday or Sunday. Twenty- three anglers fished the tournament and only seven of them landed five-fish limits. Saturday’s weather was overcast, with a cold front blowing in on 15-20 mph winds and temps dropping during the day into the mid-fifties. Sunday’s weather was high and bright with temperatures rising from the upper thirties to the mid-fifties. The bite was definitely better on Saturday when the top two stringers and Big Fish were caught. Most of the fish were caught shallow near spawning areas.
New member Chris Parker caught the 14.99-pound winning stringer fishing bladed jigs on the north end of the Lake. James Edwards finished in second place and caught his fish on spinnerbaits on the south end of the Lake. His stringer weighed 14.36 pounds. Jason Timmons placed third with a 12.60-pound stringer that was caught on soft plastics on the north end of Toledo Bend. The tournament’s Big Fish which weighed 5.14 pounds was caught by Stetson Higgingbottom.
The Club’s 2024 Angler of the Year Race is warming up with James Edwards moving into first place with 44.86 points. Terry Hotard moved into second place with 37.97 points followed by Michael Woods in third with 36.55 points, Jimmy Campbell fourth with 36.23 points, George Herr fifth with 34.75 points, Jason Timmons sixth with 34.22 points, Gary West seventh with 33.8 points, and Gary Moore eighth with 32.08 points.
