The Many Bass Club’s second tournament of 2024 was fished on February 10 and 11. The anglers could choose to fish either Saturday or Sunday. Twenty- six anglers fished the tournament and nine of them landed fivefish limits. Saturday’s weather included heavy fog early, followed by heavy rain for most of the day. Sunday’s weather included rain, and a squall line that crossed the Lake around mid-day with lightening and hail. Air temps and water temps were in the upper fifties to low sixties both days. Most of the fish were caught shallow near spawning areas.
Gary West won the tournament with a 16.19-pound stringer that he caught flipping bushes in the mid-lake area of the Lake. James Edwards finished in second place and caught his fish on chatterbaits on the south end of the Lake. His stringer weighed 13.44 pounds. Lee Ballard placed third with a 13.03-pound stringer that was caught on soft plastics in the mid-lake area. The tournament’s Big Fish which weighed 5.6 pounds was caught by Johnny Flowers.
The Club’s 2024 Angler of the Year Race is warming up with Michael Woods holding down first place with 36.55 points. George Herr continues in second place with 32.75 points, followed by Gary West in third with 31.8 points, Gary Moore fourth with 30.56 points, James Edwards fifth with 28.49 points, Terry Hotard sixth with 25.52 points, Jimmy Campbell seventh with 25.33 points, and Jason Timmons eighth with 19.53 points.
