Melvin “Steve” Procell

Melvin Procell, a resident of Noble, Louisiana, passed away on Tuesday evening, October 3, 2023, at the age of 92. Melvin was born January 5, 1931 to Jeff Procell and Josephine Paddie Procell. He was preceded in death by his parents, his Son, Newton Jeffery Procell and his siblings and spouses, Abraham “Jim” Procell, Mary Agnes Procell Wynne (Clifford), Bertie May Procell Martinez (Louis), Minnie May Procell Campbell (Doyle), Linnie Mae Procell Cooper (Roby), and Ed Ernest Procell (Verple).

Melvin grew up in Noble, Louisiana and served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953. His basic training was in Fort Leonard Wood, MO and was part of the Korean Conflict. On behalf of Melvin’s service to the USA, a military funeral will be conducted in his honor. He will always be remembered for his kindness, generosity and loving heart for everyone that surrounded him. Melvin never met a stranger and he will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives he touched.

He is survived by his Son and daughter in law, Steve Procell (Dawn), and daughters and sons in law, Patricia Procell Johnson (Denver) and Twinette Procell Brockhoeft (Jack): Grandchildren and spouses, Derrick Procell, D’Andra Procell Stricker (Buddy), Micheal Barron, Shannon Barron Stevens (Dwayne), Joshua Brockhoeft (Kristina), Steven Brockhoeft (Hope), and Daniel Brockhoeft (Shelby); Great Grandchildren: Shelby Stevens, MacKenzie Stevens, D.J. Stevens, Carson Stevens, Drew Stricker, Avery Stricker, Claire Stricker, Mia Brockhoeft, Beau Brockhoeft, Cole Brockhoeft, Jase Brockhoeft, Andrew Brockhoeft, Samuel Brockhoeft, Luke Brockhoeft, Brady Brockhoeft and Abby Brockhoeft. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Crain Funeral Home (1109 Bene Street, Franklinton, LA) on Tuesday October 10th from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 am Tuesday conducted by Brother Adam Luper. Graveside burial will follow at the Pine Community Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Derrick Procell, Micheal Barron, Buddy Stricker, Joshua Brockhoeft, Steven Brockhoeft and Daniel Brockhoeft.
