Funeral services for Mrs. JoAnn Blackmon, 80, of Florien will be held on Wednesday, September 06, 2023 at 10:00 am at Alford Heights Baptist Church in Many with Rev. Wayne Chance and Bro. Marvin Leleux officiating. Burial will follow in the Florien Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Tuesday, September 05, 2023 from 5 pm until 9 pm at Alford Heights Baptist Church.

JoAnn Was born on Monday, September 18, 1942 in Zwolle to Frank and Selina Martinez Garcie. She went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 01, 2023 at her home in Florien with her family by her side.

She grew up in Zwolle in a large family of siblings, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins that she remained close to and loved dearly.

She started her career at Starlite Restaurant in Many and continued on to Toro Hills Restaurant and Country Club until it changed to Emerald Hills Golf Resort. Over the many years, she developed lifelong friendships with co-workers and customers.

She married Lamoine Blackmon of Florien in July of 1978. They had one daughter, Deedra Ann Blackmon. She and Lamoine spent many years camping at Toledo Bend and at their deer camp in Fisher with family and friends. There is where friends became family.

Loved ones gone before her include her husband, Lamoine Blackmon; parents Frank and Selina Martinez Garcie; brothers Elmo Garcie, Ed Garcie and wife Louise, Roy Garcie and wife Evelyn, Murry Sepulvado and wife Ann, Melvin Sepulvado and wife Mable; sisters Earline Williams and husband Ernest, Elvie Garcie, Beatrice Overton and husband Jim, Elaine Sepulvado and husband Wilfred; extended family Mary and John Hariel, Delories and Richard Wright, Nira Lewing and Virginia Maines.

Remaining to carry her memory and love are her daughter, Deedra Blackmon of Florien; granddaughter Hayes Blackmon of Florien; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and very special extended family.

Pallbearers: Jody Sepulvado, Chad Sepulvado, Dave Anderson, Scottie Sepulvado, Wendell Wright, Derek Anthony, Troy Thaxton, and Wade Funderburk.
