Henry “Wayne” Ebarb

Henry “Wayne” Ebarb

Henry Ebarb was born on July 31, 1943, in Noble, LA to his parents Henry N. and Doris Ebarb. He passed away on Tuesday, August 29 at Willis Knighton Hospital in Bossier. Fortunately, as Wayne would refer to his wife Linda, his “beautiful bride” was by his side as he went to be with the Good Lord.

After graduating from Ebarb, he enlisted in the Air Force. Upon returning home from the military, he worked in the oilfield and at the plywood mill in Florien. It was on June 13, 1969, when he married his wife, Linda Logan. He later joined the Zwolle Police Department and became the Chief of Police.

Wayne was known by so many names: Big E, Johnny Lee, John, hat man, Ray, Partner, Chief, and Ole Bud. With these names came different stories. As a husband, daddy, papaw, and friend, he was notorious in telling stories that left one laughing.

Wayne’s most charming personality trait was his generosity. He was sure to take care of his neighbors, whether it was taking care of their yards or carrying off their trash. His favorite hobby was fishing for white perch and catfish on Toledo Bend Lake. He was such an embracing person; for he was always inviting friends and family to his pier when the fish were biting.

Wayne is preceded in death by his parents Henry N. and Doris Ebarb and sister Pamela Jean Ebarb.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 54 years, Linda Logan Ebarb of Many, LA; son Wayne Allen Ebarb and wife Amy of Many, LA; grandchildren Cody Ebarb and Marisa of Ebarb, LA; Laken Ebarb of Dallas, TX; great grandson, Myles Ezernack and forthcoming great grandson Cooper Wayne; brothers Terry Ebarb and wife Nanette of Noble, LA, James H. Ebarb and wife Caye of TX., and Jay Jay Ebarb and wife Anita of TX., along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Those serving as pallbearers include Al Anderson, Cody Ebarb, Bob Laroux, Eric Laroux, Sammy D. Procell, and Sammy R. Procell.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 3 at Warren Meadows in Many for the family from 4-5 pm and for the public from 5-9 pm with a rosary at 6 pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 4 at 10 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church at Zwolle with burial at the St. Joseph cemetery.

The family extends gratitude to the staff at Willis Knighton Bossier for taking care of Wayne. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Catholic charities.
