Beverly “Gaye” Greer

Beverly “Gaye” Greer

Beverly Greer passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at the age of 61, after a long battle with congestive heart failure. She was the daughter of T.O “Jimmy” Greer and Flo Ellen Greer, both who preceded her in death.

Gaye spent her childhood in Pleasant Hill and her teen years in Converse, La. She lived in many states as an adult, finally returning to Louisiana and then East Texas. Gaye was loved by many as she never met a stranger, living life to the fullest and adopting both animals and people along the way. She was known for her spunky personality and not being afraid to speak her mind. She loved animals, especially her dogs, cat, fish and her monkeys. The monkey community held a special place in her heart.

Gaye is survived by her children; Amanda Smothers, Daniel Smalley, and April Smalley; son-in-law Neal Smothers; daughter-in-law Heather Smalley; grandchildren, Ethan, Elianna, Cullen, Dayton, Ella, William, and Maxwell; brother Clay Greer; Sister-inlaw Stacy; and nephews Alex, Colby, and Blake. Gaye is also survived by her beloved monkeys; Phoebe, Annie, and Sailor.

Gaye’s granddaughter, Elianna had this to say about her Grammy: Gaye Greer has a lot of G’s in her name. But she was also a lot of G’s in her life. She was Gentle with the babies in her life. She was Generous and always helping everyone who needed it. She was the Glue that held her family together. Whether it was Christmas Eve at her house or Easter egg hunts or even Halloween parties she always found a way to have everyone united through the good times and the bad. Another G she was is “Grammy . She was an amazing Grammy to all of her grandkids, never missing a minute in their lives or in her children’s lives. The last G she was, was Groovy. She was one Groovy Girl with all of her monkeys and exotic animals of all sorts. Her capacity of love and kindness spread far across all of her family, friends, and pets, along with all the other lives she touched. Beverly Gaye Greer has left us with a memory of what unconditional love truly is. Rest in Peace and in love Gaye Greer.

A Celebration of Life will be Thursday, June 29, during the hours of 5:00-7:00PM, at Grace Hall-Grace Community Church, 9400 Ellerbe Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71106.
