The Many Bass Club’s May 2023 Tournament took place on Saturday, May 6th and Sunday May 7th on Toledo Bend. The weather on Saturday and Sunday was overcast and breezy with temps in the seventies and eighties and the moon was full. The Lake level was 171.5’, and the fish were shallow, but the bite was tough. The water temps were in the upper 60’s. The first and third place stringers were caught on Sunday and the second-place stringer was caught Saturday. There were three double digit stringers caught. The three winning stringers all came from the mid-lake area around bushes and shallow vegetation.

Congratulations to Gary West on another win! His winning stringer weighed 13.93 pounds and included the Big Fish of the Tournament that weighed 3.51 pounds. West reported that he caught his fish flipping bushes in the mid-lake area. Second place was taken by James Edwards. James’ stringer weighed 12.64 pounds, and he also caught his fish from bushes and shallow cover in the mid-lake area. Skip Carlisle placed third with five fish that weighed 11.21 pounds. Skip reported that he caught his fish shallow in the midlake area fishing Ribbit frogs.

The Angler of the Year race was shuffled significantly this month, with Gary West moving to the lead with 70.62 points. He is followed by James Edwards with 64.39 points, Johnny Flowers with 61.04 points, Jimmy Campbell with 59.22 points, Glen Swihart with 46.98 points, and Michael Sonnier with 46.61 points.
